Y3 Technologies at the Belt Road Initiative (BRI) Executive Forum organized by the Singapore-Shanghai Business Association

The BRI Executive Forum gathered Singaporean companies and ASEAN industry leaders for an engaging and informative afternoon of keynote addresses, panel discussions and industry-focused opportunities discovery session.

[vc_empty_space height=”24″ image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_column_text]On 2 November 2017, 118 Singaporean, local and ASEAN industry leaders, corporate heads and entrepreneurs gathered at Banyan Tree Shanghai on the Bund for an engaging and informative afternoon of keynote addresses, panel discussions and industry-focused opportunities discovery sessions at the Shanghai-Singapore Belt-and-Road Initiative Executive Forum 2017, aimed to help Singaporean enterprises uncover and explore BRI opportunities in China and ASEAN with leading industry players.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”24″ image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_column_text]Organized by Shanghai Singapore Business Association, the BRI Executive Forum is supported by Consulate-General of the Republic of Singapore in Shanghai and International Enterprise Singapore, with IE-SCCCI Enterprise Centre as a participating organization. The Forum brought together an exciting and diverse line-up of invited guest speakers, panelists and moderators.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”24″ image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_column_text]SSBA President Mr Lucas Loh kick-started the event with a Welcome Address, mentioning that “with so much attention on the BRI as an engine for global growth, this is an opportune time to get together to try and make sense of the BRI”. Following that, CG Loh Tuck Wai was invited for an Opening Address, who also highlighted that the BRI was one of the key topics covered during PM Lee’s visit to Beijing in September this year.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”24″ image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”350874″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]Our first keynote speaker of the day, Dr Robert Yap, Executive Chairman of YCH Group and Deputy Chairman of IE Singapore, shed light on opportunities for Singaporean companies, the potential BRI holds and how we can partake in upcoming BRI projects. Dr Yap, who will be chairing the ASEAN Business Advisory Council, also shared on the BRI impact in the ASEAN region, particularly less developed countries in Southeast Asia, as well as Singapore’s role in 2018 as we assume the Chair of ASEAN next year.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”24″ image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_column_text]In the second keynote address, Mr Alexious Lee went on to discuss China’s growing role in the region infrastructure construction and how Chinese firms have expanded regionally owing to BRI projects in neighboring countries. In particular, Mr Lee emphasized on the tremendous extent of China’s overseas direct investment with BRI nations and that Chinese companies will continue to grow rapidly in the region with increasing economic cooperation zones (ECZs) and free trade agreements (FTAs).[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”24″ image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_single_image image=”350876″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]Following that, our moderators Mr Ho Chee Hin, Group Director (China) of IE Singapore and Kent Lau, Executive Director of MadAboutDesign, led two respective panel discussions in spirited engagements with the audience pertaining to opportunities for Singaporean enterprises in the BRI across various industries. Chen Te-Bin, GM of CTG-Y3 Venture Company and COO (Greater China) of Y3 Technologies, provided insights on Y3’s involvement in the Chinese market and how the joint venture with Chongqing Transportation Holdings has benefited Y3 in terms of business opportunities; while Lim Huishan, Partnership Development Manager of SPH Digital shared on SPH expansion into the Chinese market as well as their recent JV agreement with China’s largest online creative services platform ZBJ network.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”24″ image_repeat=”no-repeat”][vc_column_text]Following a networking break, the Executive Forum ended on a high note with an industry-focused opportunities discovery session, whereby participants engaged directly with our panelists who moderated 4 different workshops for respective industries – Supply Chain, Technology, Finance and Retail/ Consumer Goods.[/vc_column_text][vc_row row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” text_align=”left” box_shadow_on_row=”no”][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” text_align=”left” box_shadow_on_row=”no”][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row]
